The CNC Building Blocks project was promoted on Kickstarter on February 2, 2011 until March 31st, 2011. A goal of $5,000 was set to develop a set of Injection molded plastic CNC components that would allow for quick and inexpensive design and construction of CNC machines. The goal was met in 7 days and reached a final funding level of $36,915 [1]. The project was unable to be accomplished as expected due to complications with an overseas' injection molding company. The project developer lost approximately $30,000 on tooling and spent another $15,000 to develop CNC Building Blocks 2.0, a higher quality CNC machined aluminum version of the plastic injection molded parts. The more expensive aluminum CNC Building Blocks were provided to backers at no extra cost.

The new aluminum CNC Building Block components are available from the A Quick CNC store.
